Start here! A step-by-step guide to assist your child to sit ICAS at home.

Doing ICAS Writing and/or Spelling Bee?

You must download the app, Janison Replay, onto your child's device.

Take the Technical Readiness Test

Open this link on your child's device to see if it is ready to run ICAS.

View all the technical requirements

Read all the requirements for your device hardware, operating system, internet browser and internet bandwidth settings.

Tips:

  • Google Chrome is the most suitable internet browser to use to sit ICAS Mathematics, English, Science and Digital Technologies.
  • Prepare a location for your child to sit their ICAS test under the exam conditions below. Sitting the test under exam conditions and within the time limit is essential to be eligible for an ICAS medal.

Installing Janison Replay onto your child’s device:

Janison Replay is a locked-down browser application. This means it will force shutdown of any programs/browsers or applications that should not be used whilst your child sits the ICAS test.

You must install Janison Replay onto your child’s device if they are sitting ICAS Writing or ICAS Spelling Bee. You only need to install Janison Replay once a year.

Ensure your child’s ICAS one-time code and session code are written down prior to opening Janison Replay on your device. These will be given by your teacher.

If you are installing Janison Replay on the iPad, enter this URL when prompted to complete your installation: https://icasassessments.janisoninsights.com

Janison Replay and Managed Chromebooks:

Your school will need to organise for the installation of Janison Replay onto your child’s Chromebook. The school must have a subscription to a Chrome service, such as Chrome Enterprise, Chrome Education, or Chrome Kiosk in order to complete the installation. Contact your child’s teacher if this applies to you.

Frequently Asked Questions jQuery(document).ready(function($) { var delay = 100; setTimeout(function() { $('.elementor-tab-title').removeClass('elementor-active'); $('.elementor-tab-content').css('display', 'none'); }, delay); });

The locked-down browser app (called Janison Replay) is designed to prevent your child from accessing other applications such as web pages, cameras, spell checks, screenshotting, keyword shortcuts, and other features during the live assessment. For more information, check out our locked-down browser page.

On Test Day

It’s ICAS Test Day! Yours and your child’s hard work is about to pay off. You’ve got this!

Parents & Guardians – Please note: ICAS at Home Exam Conditions

  1. Room: Please provide your child(ren) with a quiet space that is free from external disruptions. If you have multiple children sitting, ensure that they are not too close to avoid distractions.
  2. Desk: Please provide your child(ren) with adequate space to complete the exam. Their desk should have minimal clutter.
  3. Allowed Items: Your child(ren) is able to complete their exam on a device of their choice. They are allowed to have access to a pen and paper for working out.
  4. Prohibited Items: Remove any items that are not allowed in the exam. These include: Phones, Electronic devices (other than the device your child is using), dictionaries, handheld calculators, notes, and any other materials that may give them an unfair advantage.
  5. Supervision: The teacher will inform your child the time limit (in minutes) to complete the test. Please ensure that you are monitoring your child(ren) for the duration of the test. This includes making sure they do not open another internet browser, and that they only leave their desk for bathroom breaks during the test time.
  6. Their own work: Your child(ren) must complete the test by themselves without any help. This includes not providing prompts, assisting them with answers, or giving them hints. If a child is finding the test difficult, encourage them to try their best and select the answer they think is most correct.
  7. Device: Prior to the test starting, make sure your child has closed any browsers that are not needed for the test.

Technical issues: Contact your child’s teacher if any device/technical issues occur.
